    Job Title: Institutional Research Analyst

    Union Institute & University, a national, not for profit university offering bachelor's, master’s, and doctoral degree programs for adult students, is searching for an experienced Institutional Research Analyst based at its system headquarters in Cincinnati, OH.
     

    The Institutional Research Analyst will help implement a broad institutional research program of data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform decision making, planning, teaching, management, and marketing. The Institutional Research Analyst will collaborate with the Director of Institutional Research and other offices on campus to execute reporting of institutional data to external entities such as the federal government, college guidebooks, and consortia; and ensure accuracy and integrity of Union Institute and University databases and records. The Institutional Research Analyst will report to the Director of Institutional Research. The position will require in office work with possible remote work flexibility.
     

    GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Plan, design, administer, analyze, and report on internal research studies, surveys, program reviews, and statistical and other policy analyses to inform College decision making, to gauge student learning and post-college outcomes, to support short- and long-range planning, and to provide public accountability.
    • Track and report key institutional indicators with comparisons to peer institutions for annual and strategic planning, budgeting, and enrollment management.
    • Collaborate with other departments and offices to utilize results from analyzed data models to recommend specific interventions.
    • Create and maintain institutional datasets and assist coordinating internal and external reporting. This includes reports to the U.S. Department of Education (DoE), IPEDS, Ohio Department of Education (ODHE), Florida Commission for Independent Education (FCIE), California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE), National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), and other external entities such as the federal government, state government, Association of Independent Colleges & Universities of Ohio (AICUO), and college guidebook surveys such as the Common Data Set, U.S. News and World Report, College Board, etc.
    • Manage and coordinate data collection and reporting to several accrediting agencies (institutional and programmatic). This includes the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
    • Fulfill internal requests for institutional data to promote effective management, operations, and teaching and learning.
    • Support student learning outcomes assessment in general education, academic programs (majors), and co-curricular activities through methodological assistance, data collection, data analysis, and reporting of results.
    • Maintain institutional research webpage content to comply with federal, state, and accrediting agencies and promote transparency and institutional awareness.
    • Initiate and manage projects that enhance the operational efficiency, service capacity, and reach of the Office of Institutional Research.
    • Utilize a variety of databases and information systems to extract, validate, analyze, and report data. This includes Student Information System (SIS), Learning Management System (LMS), Assessment Management Systems (AMS), and Survey platforms.
    • Develop, maintain, and update queries and reports to fulfill recurring data needs for internal and external reporting requirements; create and present dynamic reports and data sets to support timely decision making.
    • Perform regular and periodic review of written procedures and updates as necessary to maintain a current, complete reference manual, including the maintenance of an institutional research calendar to ensure that cyclical project timelines are met.
    • Serve on College committees and working groups as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, social sciences, education, or a related field with two years of relevant work experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
    • Working knowledge of higher education data management and information systems, preferably Jenzabar, Brightspace, and AEFIS.
    • Knowledge of relational databases and familiarity with Structured Query Language (SQL).
    • High level of proficiency with spreadsheet and querying programs such as Microsoft Access queries and Excel.
    • Ability to conduct research and analysis of project requirements.
    • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions and to effectively deal with ambiguity and changing project requirements.
    • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information.
    • Ability to give clear and effective public presentations.
    • Ability to develop dashboards and connect databases to the web using standard data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
    • Knowledge of or ability to learn, follow, and enforce college policies and procedures
    • Strong attention to detail.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tools.
    • Abilities in statistical analysis software, preferably SPSS, R, and/or SAS.
